Leanne Shapton nació en Mississauga, Canadá, en 1973. Es escritora, artista y editora. Publicó más de una decena de libros, entre ellos "Artefactos importantes" (Duomo ediciones, 2010). Codirige la editorial J&L Books y es editora de arte del New York Review of Books. En 2012 obtuvo el premio del National Book Critics Circle de Estados Unidos por Bocetos de natación. Vive en Nueva York.
