Lewis Dartnell estudió biología en Oxford y se doctoró en el University College de Londres. Ha recibido numerosas distinciones por su labor como escritor científico y colabora con The Guardian, The Times y The New Scientist.
Es incansable en su labor como impulsor de la ciencia y ha protagonizado numerosas apariciones en programas televisivos del Canal Historia y del National Geographic, entre otros. De entre sus libros cabe destacar el best seller Abrir en caso de apocalipsis (Debate, 2015). En la actualidad trabaja como investigador y profesor de astrobiología en la Universidad de Westminster.
