Peter May (Glasgow, 1951) empezó su carrera como periodista en The Scotsman y The Glasgow Evening Times. A los veintiséis años publicó su primera novela, The Reporter, cuyos derechos televisivos adquirió la BBC. Tras colaborar en su adaptación, May inició una exitosa y prolífica carrera como guionista y productor de televisión, sin dejar por ello de escribir novelas, ocupación a la que se dedica en exclusiva desde 1996. Referente imprescindible del género negro anglosajón, cuenta también con un seguimiento abrumador en Francia y China, y junto a Ian Rankin es el abanderado del denominado tartan noir. Peter May ha recibido numerosos galardones, ha tocado la batería en varios grupos musicales y ha dirigido talleres literarios. Vive en el pueblo de Lot, en el sur de Francia.
