El libro intitulado Visiones del desarrollo sostenible recoge las distintas posturas intelectuales del doctorando en Desarrollo sostenible de la Universidad de Manizales Caldas-Colombia, sobre un tema de relevancia mundial y de alto impacto en lo politico, en lo economico, en lo social y en lo cultural, como es la problematica derivada en esa interaccion-relacion hombre-naturaleza, vista no solo en lo teorico, sino en lo practico. La dinamica poblacional y su relacion con el entorno bajo procesos historicamente conocidos como revoluciones industriales, han permitido a la humanidad gozar de grandes beneficios y comodidades, muchos de los cuales han dejado su impronta en lo que hoy llamamos la huella ecologica y, con ello, grandes desafios ambientales y sociales; uno de ellos es el cambio climatico, resultado de ignorar el desarrollo sustentable como una opcion para complementar el actual sistema politico y social. No obstante, desde mediados del siglo XX, el despertar de movimientos ambientalistas y ecologistas ha incursionado en la conciencia colectiva, que poco a poco ha permeado las estructuras de poder politico y economico, a la vez que ha hecho, de los medios de comunicacion, la forma eficaz para comunicar las consecuencias de no actuar de forma coherente con nuestro planeta. Por fortuna, hoy, son mas los cientificos especializados, movimientos sociales y, en algunos casos, politicos y lideres empresariales que se unen a esta causa; con lo cual la esperanza de un mundo mejor para nuestros hijos es una posibilidad y una obligacion. Una evidencia de que existe una mayor conciencia colectiva por un ambiente sano es la curiosidad investigativa de los distintos autores que participan en esta edicion, que buscan no solo una aproximacion conceptual y teorica, sino ofrecer una vision alternativa de desarrollo sostenible.
